Elastic is an independent, annual print magazine of psychedelic art and literature—a home for work that bends time and genre and perspective, multiplies and distorts the possibilities of narrative, blurs waking and dreaming life, magnifies the senses, and locates the absurd and the sublime in the everyday. Our third issue is unthemed. We're looking for expansive, strange, form-breaking visual art and writing that gets at our twisted present and states and experiences that can be impossible to describe straightforwardly or linearly.
We publish visual art, hybrid work, and written pieces up to 4,000 words (there is no minimum word count). We accept only previously unpublished writing (previously published visual art is just fine!); simultaneous submissions and translations are welcome. We encourage prospective contributors to spend some time with Elastic before submitting. Our previous issues offer the clearest sense of the kinds of things we publish.
Our submission period runs from August 7 through August 30 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Submissions received outside this window will not be considered. We will send responses by mid-October.
